In a unexpected crossover event that defies usual predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Disclosed

According to the formal announcement, "A mysterious encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of prohibited practices and fearsome transformations reverberate through the darkness." The storyline presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret group.

The adventure centers on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Iconic Locations and Transformations

The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the hostage, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Extra Features

Players who successfully complete the mission will acquire an unique katana alongside several items hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Exclusive arms
• Survey Corps vehicle

Latest Free Story Addition

This release also brings the game's latest no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe debuts a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

The series formerly included a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
