Brian Eno Urges Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to send a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign hopes to send support to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to support Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”

Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The track was produced after a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the rendition was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.

The notable list of artists contributing to Lullaby encompasses a range of acclaimed names from the music world. All took part in the September show, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of music creators. The single features a fusion of the heritage language with new English lyrics.

The group managing the initiative have clarified that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These resources will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a spokesperson explained. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to Gaza.”

The reality in the area was described as its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of property described as levelled or seriously harmed.

“Against that backdrop, a couple of million won't make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is first of all raising awareness for this issue and proving that another narrative exists.”

The track is launching this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a digital service from later in the month.
