Ex- BBC Advisers Participate in Members of Parliament's Questioning Following Assertions of Partiality in Leaked Memo
We begin with questions from Conservative MP the committee chair, that chairs the group.
She commences by offering context to the leaked document authored by Michael Prescott and published in a daily publication.
"I don't want the BBC tilting toward one side or the other, My only wish is for it neutral, impartial and just," he says.
In response to a query if he believes the BBC is institutionally biased, the adviser replies: "Absolutely not. To be clear, tons of stuff the British Broadcasting Corporation does is exceptional - including documentary and fictional programming."
However, he continues: "There is real work that requires attention at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
Another ex-adviser BBC specialist questioned by the committee, Caroline Daniel, remarks she takes the BBC very seriously and that it operates a "ongoing system and active debate" across evolving and intricate subjects.
"Was the BBC willing to conduct a genuine discussion and debate and implement changes?" she reflects. "As I see it, yes they were."
