Ex- Physician Faces Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.

Details of the Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

One senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

The charges come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges include:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
