Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
