Recent Particulars Surface Concerning the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Remains

Recent details have emerged concerning the untimely deaths of renowned director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their residence property on Sunday.

The Initial Report

According to a report quoting a person close to the family, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the home. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.

After gaining access to the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Afterward, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Charges

The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, including the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now being held without bail.

Clarifications

The person close to the family also disputed several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.

The source also refuted circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation applies to reports of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Timeline

Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports suggested the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
